How to access work if learning remotely due to COVID-19

Online work is always accessed through Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft Teams is a learning platform which Padgate Academy now use as its Remote Learning platform.

If there is no live lesson scheduled, students should access resources and complete work set on the appropriate class on Microsoft Teams.

Students can also download the Microsoft Teams app for Windows, Mac, iOS (Apple) and Android devices.

How to Join a Zoom Lesson

Where possible, teachers will broadcast lessons via Zoom. Students should join the lesson using their teachers link provided on Microsoft Teams.

If your teacher is delivering your lesson via Zoom, you can access this from your device, without having to download anything.

To join a lesson, follow these instructions:

Click the link to join the meeting.
If prompted to open the Zoom desktop client, click Cancel.
Click the Join from your Browser link. (Note: If you don't see this option, make sure to enable Join From Browser.
If prompted, sign in to your Zoom account. If you do not have a Zoom account, create a new free account.
You will be prompted to enter your name and the meeting password if it was not included in the join link.
Click Join.

DfE Laptops

For laptop devices provided by DfE, a user information document has been provided below.

DfE Dongles/Internet Routers

Step-by-step instructions for your internet dongle/router is provided below. Please note that following information regarding internet dongles provided by DfE:

The router will have a SIM card inserted that provides 20GB of data per month which will reset on the first day of each month. Once the 20GB limit has been reached the device will no longer connect to the internet - to reduce data usage, devices should be used for accessing remote education with ‘Standard Definition’ (SD) video selected where possible
SIM cards will remain active until the end of July 2021.
Routers will only work with the SIM provided - attempts to insert an alternative SIM or to use the SIM in another device will result in it being blocked
You should not attempt to reset the device to try to resolve issues, as this will result in both the router and SIM to stop working.
