The Padgate Academy governing body have overall responsibility for the strategic direction of the academy, ensuring rigorous and effective monitoring and evaluation of standards, effectiveness, business and resources. Governors have a four-year term of office, so vacancies are filled on an ongoing basis and include a number of parent governors elected by the parents themselves.
All Governors are expected to demonstrate a high level of involvement and engagement within the Academy through regular attendance at meetings, events and through the use of ICT.

The academy (University Academy Warrington)transferred on 1st December 2018 having previously been an academy with the University of Chester Academies Trust. The Challenge Academy Trust is directly responsible to the Secretary of State for the operation of its member academies. . It is a company limited by guarantee registered at Companies House.
